About the role
Be You Group is recruiting new Board Members to help us build a fairer and more inclusive musical theatre sector. We’re seeking people who are self-motivated, collaborative, and ready to lead from the ground up.
Our Board is hands-on, values-led, and committed to working alongside the communities we serve. You might have experience in leadership, HR, governance, fundraising, or education—or you might just bring big ideas and the drive to make them happen.
Board members meet monthly online and can choose to step into a Project-Based Portfolio aligned with one of our key program areas. Time commitment is flexible (2–5 hours per month), and no prior board experience is required. We support your growth and leadership from day one.
We are especially keen to hear from people with lived experience in the performing arts, education, community organising or marginalised communities.
About the organisation
Be You Group is a not-for-profit working to transform the culture and structure of the Australian musical theatre industry. Through performance platforms, education programs, and artist-led development initiatives, we support artists to thrive—not just survive.
Our core programs include:
-
Broadway Unplugged – A monthly performance platform for emerging and established artists
-
Be New – A creative lab supporting new Australian musicals
-
Be You Ed – Education and outreach initiatives including intensives and grants
-
Be You Productions – Values-led performance projects
-
Be You Underground – A free online resource hub for performers and creatives
We value care, inclusion, transparency and courage—and we believe in doing things differently.
